Behind a Closed Door!

•February 8, 2008 • Leave a Comment

If you are a parent, a child, friend or family of a child with Autism you can help us inform the world what it is really like to live with Autism everyday. This is very easy to do and it will only take a small amount of your time, yet  has the potential to have an impact on so many lives. My child recently celebrated his birthday and I am finding it very hard to find the words to tell him exactly what Autism means. I know the time is coming soon to educate him and prepare him for the situations that are sure to come his way. I thought, that if I asked other people to send us a post card about the real world we live in, “Behind a Closed Door”, maybe it would help me and other moms’ like me  feel like we are not alone. We can give each other the tools, words, an strength to fight this together.
The postcards that come in will be used to create a way for parents to show their child that other kiddos do some of the same things that they do. We have so many children out there with this; if we come together we can help them feel that they are not alone.
Please help!

This project is very simple:

Design it- don’t sign it!
Get a post card or just an index card. Keep it short and simple. Write your thought.
It can be funny, sad, frustrating, misunderstood, or something that is just -parent to parent.
Design it however you choose.

Then Mail It.

Send it to:
Behind A Closed Door
4115 Bear Creek Trace
Baytown, Texas 77521

All cards will be used for education purposes and may be published in several forms.
